As part of your subscription, we commit to offering the following:
As an internet safety charity, we are very much committed to delivering best practice procedures to protect young people’s privacy and safety while they are part of our programme. We have undertaken a full risk assessment for this programme, and we have put in place safeguards, in particular across four key areas:
Our online platform offers opportunities for young people to communicate with their team members (in the Team Activity Page) and with young people from across the UK (in the Community page).
To help ensure these functions are used appropriately, we have taken a number of steps:
We take privacy seriously, and we set out a clear Privacy Policy which is displayed prominently on the Childnet Digital Leaders platform. This covers key areas, including our commitment to:
We expect young people to fulfil their responsibility to protect their own and others privacy on the platform by not sharing personal information.
We have clear child protection procedures in place.
Our staff are all DBS checked, and undergo rigorous recruitment procedures. We have in place clear internal procedures about how and when our staff are able to access the platform or communicate with young people.
We have a clear process for handling disclosures and will involve your school/organisation immediately in the case of any concerns.
The parent/carer consent form is mandatory in order for your child to participate in the programme. However, the media consent form is optional. Children can still participate in the programme even if parents/carers do not consent to their child’s images being shared. Your child will not be able to start the programme until we have received your completed Parent/carer consent form.
As Childnet Digital Leaders, young people have a responsibility to behave in a kind, respectful and supportive way throughout the programme, both in school, online and in other contexts.
In the first training module, we set out the Ethos and Values of the programme (see attached), which sets out the roles and responsibilities of all Childnet Digital Leaders.
While using the Childnet Digital Leaders platform we have clear Community Rules (see attached) which explain the behavioural standards we expect to see from young people.
We have the right to remove any individual pupil or school/organisation from the programme if they are not adhering to the Ethos and Values of the programme, or if they have violated the Community Rules for the platform.
When you have completed our order form, you will be sent an invoice via email within one month. You will then have 21 days to pay. Once we receive and check your consent forms, we will get you started so you don’t have to wait, but we do reserve the right to suspend access to the platform if payment remains outstanding.
You can start the programme at any point in the academic year. Schools are given an automatic start date of three months after their enrolment which gives you enough time to recruit your team of Digital Leaders. Your actual subscription start date begins at the point your team is uploaded to the online platform as long as this doesn’t exceed your automatic start date. Your Digital Leaders should be able to complete their training within 2-3 months and then they have the rest of the year to deliver impactful activities in your school and community.
If within 30 days you have decided to not continue the programme, then we may be able to offer you a refund although this will be subject to a cancellation/administration charge. We may be able to pause your subscription until you are ready to begin the programme. Please email us at leaders@childnet.com to discuss this further.
